Renovating a vibration test bench for rotating machines for EDF
At its Clamart site, EDF R&D utilises the "Europe" test bench for studying the mechanical resistance of rotating machines. The entity decided to upgrade this test resource's control/command system to modernise the supervision console, make it easier to operate and parametrise the test bench, and speed up the availability of test results and their processing after each test programme. Following its examination of the various requirements in the specifications document, Styrel recommended the NI CompactRIO platform combined with a PC for monitoring. This platform makes it possible to make the tests secure using FPGA technology, to perform real-time synchronous measurements on many channels (72 currently) and to perform sequential logic operations as a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller).
