Inspection device for TGV bogies using ultrasound signals
This project involved developing a system to be used in the preventive maintenance phases for TGV carriages. The purpose of the system was to detect any cracks (or internal fissures) that might form in the wheels of bogies (the chariots underneath trains to which the wheels are attached). Styrel provided a semi-automatic system that inspected two axles simultaneously by means of 8 ultrasound sensors per axle (4 per wheel). The inspection system consists of a mechanical component, an electrical/electronic element and a software element using LabVIEW.
